How Do Aerator Shoes Work?

Aeration shoes have small spike on the bottom of the shoes. They work when you walk on them by pushing the spikes into the ground, they loosen up tough soils and allow more water air and nutrients to get to the roots.  The first generation of lawn aeration shoes were not very effective, but they have come a long way since the turn of the century.  Most people put them on when they mow their lawn, weed their yard or work in the garden.  Shoes with longer spike typically work better than shoes with smaller spikes.
